Eleanor has worked alongside Ian as a Paraplanner since 2012 and together they set up Ian King Financial Planning in January 2015. Eleanor has a qualifying bachelor’s degree in law and was named Managing Director of the practice in 2020.

Eleanor still has a passion for the technical aspects of being a paraplanner and loves to solve the seemingly unsolvable. Eleanor is responsible for ensuring that our client’s best interests are always at the forefront of everything we do. She also helps to formulate most of our client’s investment strategies.

Eleanor holds many hats within the practice, one of those being her role as chair of our Investment Committee, where her role is to ensure the suitability of our investment process.

Much like Ian, the majority of Eleanor’s ‘free’ time is spent chasing after their young son Henry.

When she and Ian have a moment to relax, they both enjoy indulging in their common passion for fine dining and the odd glass (or bottle) of red wine.

Eleanor is also a keen mixed hockey player and often lines up alongside Tom for Coalville Rangers Mixed Hockey Team.

Ian has been advising clients for nearly twenty years, having taken the journey from being a financial adviser focusing on investments, to becoming one of the few planners in the UK who hold both the Chartered Financial Planner and Certified Financial Planner designations, the highest possible accolade in the profession.

Ian continues to work with clients on a daily basis, helping them better understand their finances and in doing so aiding them to make better decisions about their future.

Ian also spends considerable time working with and developing the skills of the team, whilst always being on the lookout for new ways in which the experience of our clients can be improved.

Ian is married to Eleanor and their young son Henry takes up a lot of their remaining time and energy outside of work.

Family time aside, Ian loves to plan a new travel adventure, particularly one which includes a tour of a vineyard (or two). Ian is a huge cricket fan and (albeit less so since the arrival of Henry) can often be found watching his beloved Nottinghamshire CCC at Trent Bridge.

Tom recently joined the team as an Administrator and is responsible for ensuring our client records are kept up to date, preparing reports and obtaining plan information for our client’s financial plans.

Tom is new to the profession, having previously worked for a local engineering firm and has found his first couple of months in the profession an eye-opening experience.

Tom is enjoying the many new challenges during his transition into the role, and he is keen to continue to progress within the profession over time.

Tom is himself a keen sportsman, playing and sitting on the committee at local cricket club Broomleys C.C. When Tom isn’t playing cricket, he can usually be found watching the most recent test match on television.

Tom is a qualified Sports Massage Therapist and has a book of happy clients whom he is tasked with keeping in peak physical condition, many of whom he plays sport alongside.

Tom has a young daughter and enjoys nothing more than getting out in the fresh air and spending time with her whenever he can.
